#GivingTuesday

This GivingTuesday, the Kennebunk Free Library will inspire generosity by asking people to contribute to their 2020 Campaign.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.

The Kennebunk Free Library has experienced a decline in our special event fundraising efforts due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. While the KFL had to cancel or modify some special events such as our Literary Feast and Road Race, we have become creative in our efforts to reach out to our community.  Thanks to The Friends of the KFL, we have been able to offer to offer ad-free movie streaming for your electronic devices using Kanopy and to increase our digital collections. Library staff have been very inventive in putting together “Take and Make” kits for children, teens, and adults with over 400 distributed since this summer. Even though we can’t be together in person, we are still finding ways to stay connected!

To keep our “Take and Make” projects and other programming available to everyone, we are asking for a donation of $20 (or more if you feel inspired) to help us as we continue to expand into remote and virtual methods of reaching out to our wonderful, supportive community. Help us reach our goal by being one of 200 people to show the Kennebunk Free Library your support!

Our Annual Appeal

This year the Library needs to raise nearly $200,000 to supplement funding from municipal appropriations from the towns of Kennebunk and Arundel. With your help we can reach our 2021 Annual Appeal goal of raising nearly $55,000 by June 30, 2020.

This number is down from previous years due to a change in how we define "Annual Appeal Income" in our budget. We are no longer including under this line "Unrestricted Grant Income" (2020 goal of $15,000) - this is now its own separate line. Both lines together now add to the same figure we had previously seen under "Annual Appeal Income".

You can view our FY20 infographic here.

Please consider becoming a monthly donor and we will recognize you for your full-year’s pledge.

In-Kind Contributions

We appreciate your in-kind contributions of all types. These primarily include books, DVDs, and audiobooks that KFL can then use to raise money during our ongoing and quarterly book sales or sometimes add to our collection. These donations can also include other items as approved and accepted by staff.

KFL has a very generous community and as such, our donation guidelines help us fit our space and time constraints. We ask that you please respect our criteria.

All In-Kind Contributions must be submitted with this form, signed by the donor.

Planned Giving

Kennebunk Free Library offers opportunities to support the Library with Planned Giving.  Contact Michelle Conners, Director.

Gifts of Securities

Kennebunk Free Library accepts donations of appreciated securities. Whether it's 100 shares of blue-chip stock or a new high-tech gadget, our government does indeed allow you to deduct these gifts as charitable donations. Moreover, you also avoid capital gains tax on the transfer. This double benefit means that you can leverage a larger donation by using appreciated securities rather than cash to make your gift.

We welcome gifts of publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares. Some donors own stock in privately held corporations; contact Director, Michelle Conners, to learn about using those assets to make a gift. The securities you use to make your gift must have been held by you for more than one year to be fully deductible.

Amazon Smile

Donate to the library without spending an extra dime! Instead of shopping on the regular Amazon website, shop on smile.amazon.com and select KFL as your charity of choice. The options, the prices - everything is exactly the same but Amazon will donate a small portion of the sale to KFL.

Clynk

Turn your cans and bottles into a donation to KFL! Pick up one of our stickered Clynk Bags at the library during curbside hours, then return the full bag to Hannaford. Clynk will do the rest! Last year, the library received about $1,000 from Clynk donations, enough to fund all of our adult programs.
