The mission of the Kennebunk Free Library is to serve the diverse
cultural, informational, educational and recreational needs of the
community by:
- developing and promoting the use of
resources, including informational materials, books, programs,
technology and films, that contribute to literacy, informed
citizenship and lifelong learning;
- providing opportunity and encouragement for children, young adults and adults to educate themselves
continually;
- providing a welcoming and lively learning center for the community;
- serving our patrons with expert and
caring assistance;
- providing facilities that are inviting
and accessible; and
- reaching out to all members of the
community.
The Town of Kennebunk has supported its library since
1882. Building projects in 1907 and 1995 have given the town the
beautiful building as it stands today. We invite you to tour our
facility which preserves many of the fine features of the old
library building, while offering library resources for the our time
and beyond.
The Kennebunk Free Library is a private, non-profit
organization, supported by town funds and by donations and governed
by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees.
Patrons are encouraged to actively support the
Library by:
-
Serving as a Trustee
-
Working as a Community Member on a Trustee committee
-
Joining the Friends of the Kennebunk Free Library
-
Volunteering in the Library
