Thank you very much for your support.

The Kennebunk Free Library values your support. Whether your support takes the form of monetary donations or by volunteering or book donations or by being a Friend of the giving treeLibrary, it all counts in making the KFL a stronger organization.
As a not-for-profit 501(c)3 Library, we gratefully receive funding from the towns of Kennebunk and Arundel and commit to raising about 30% of our operational costs each year.  Every year we hold special fundraisers, the Edition 5K Road Race, and an Annual Appeal.  Our services are offered 51 hours a week/52 weeks a year - our need for support is year round as well.

Donations may be made for our Annual Appeal, in memory o
f a special person, to celebrate a special occasion, or a lasting legacy gift.
Every gift truly makes a difference. Thank you for your gift to benefit the Kennebunk Free Library and our community.

Our Annual Appeal
child readingWe are currently accepting donations for our annual appeal.  Your tax-deductible gift empowers us to maintain a knowledgeable and dedicated staff; sustain an historic facility; and offer a wide range of up-to-date media, convenient services, and enlightening programs that make KFL a cherished center of our community. Ultimately, gifts to the Kennebunk Free Library represent not only confidence in the work of the Library, but also belief in our collective future.  Since its founding in 1907, the Kennebunk Free Library has inspired a deeply-felt conviction about the value and importance of the public library in our community. For more than one hundred years we have provided resources and vital services that evolve to meet the changing demands of the times.

Your gift to KFL’s Annual Appeal has a direct bearing on the quality of the services and programs that we can provide. Your generosity is critical to allowing us to serve the Kennebunk community over the next year.

When making your donation be sure to tell us:
  1. The name of the person being honored.
  2. the name and address of the family or person we should inform about your gift,
  3. and the subject area of interest.

Memorial Gifts
Consider a memorial gift to remember a loved one by contributing to the Kennebunk Free Library with a tax deductible gift. A memorial gift is a thoughtful way to honor the life and legacy of a loved one. Please note for whom the donation is being made and list all donors you wish to be recognized with contact information.  The Library will send a letter of acknowledgment to the honoree or honoree family and to the donors.  You'll have an opportunity to fill this in during "checkout".

Gifts of Securities

Give appreciated securities to the Kennebunk Free Library and you shall receive - a tax break. Whether it's 100 shares of blue-chip stock or a new high-tech gadget, our government does indeed allow you to deduct these gifts as charitable donations. Moreover, you also avoid capital gains tax on the transfer. This double benefit means that you can leverage a larger donation by using appreciated securities rather than cash to make your gift.

We welcome gifts of publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares. Some donors own stock in privately held corporations; contact us to learn about using those assets to make a gift. The securities you use to make your gift must have been held by you for more than one year to be fully deductible.

Planned Giving
Kennebunk Free Library offers opportunities to support the Library with Planned Giving. Please view our latest brochure for additional information.
