Hank's Room Gallery
Each month,
Kennebunk Free Library hosts a new exhibit of an area artist in the
Hank's Room Gallery. The exhibit is open to the public during
library hours except when the room is in use for a scheduled
meeting or program. Please contact the Library if you are interested
in displaying your art in our Gallery.
The Creation of the Gallery
The creation of the art gallery in Hank's Room
was made possible when the trustees of the Kennebunk Free Library
authorized the auction of unused Library furniture (wooden card
catalogs and fireplace andirons) to fund renovations to Hank's Room.
With the proceeds from the auction the Library purchased track
lighting, molding and paint to add gallery space to this
multi-purpose meeting room.
In January 2001 the Kennebunk Free Library
began offering space in Hank's Room, our meeting room, to
accommodate ongoing displays of art. This is a true community effort
to expand the Library mission of life-long learning. This
opportunity is open to local artists of Wells, Kennebunk,
Kennebunkport and Arundel, as well as those who work but may not
reside in the above-mentioned towns.
Artists exhibit for an entire month. Each artist has the opportunity to host a reception, which
may be open to the public if desired. We have had a wide variety of
artwork on display, which makes each exhibit unique and exciting.
Our patrons' responses to the exhibits have been wonderful, and
each month they look forward to a new and exciting display. The art
gallery has been very well received by both patrons and artists
alike.
The current exhibit and a
listing of upcoming artists is
available.

basic word processing. These classes will serve as a starting point to
greater skills and expertise—it just takes practice! Once you gain
these skills you’ll be on the road to independent computing.
Classes will be offered on the first three Wednesdays of
the month January-March 2010, April-May 2010, September-December 2010.
